Ben’s anticipated trip to inpatient has happened. We received word late in the afternoon that he was to go inpatient for at least 24 hours due to the high blood pressure. The hospital wants to keep him at least that amount of time to make sure that there’s no complications. Fortunately his blood pressure did drop quite a bit and is in the normal range at this point.
Additionally, Dr. Kushner has decided to end 3F8 treatment for the week. This means that Ben is semi officially done with 3F8. We still await the results of the bone marrow biopsy and he is scheduled for an MRI tomorrow. Once we know the results of those we can say for sure whether or not he is done.
Of course, if that strange spot on his liver does turn out to be cancer it changes the entire dynamic of treatment. The medical staff still seems to think though that it is FNH since they have seen this on lots of other kids that going through chemo. After speaking with Dr. Kushner about it I’m pretty confident that this will hold true.
So, what this means for Ben is that his next treatment will most likely be removal of his port. Then we’ll be on for three months scans. These will most likely take place in New York and Denver depending on whether or not they do the four point biopsies.
Ben, of course, is excited to know that this could be his last round of 3F8 treatment.
Thanks to all for your prayers and support. It truly does mean a lot to us.
